The Shariah Board


The Shariah Board is the body responsible for Shariah (legal) aspects related to Al Rajhi Capital. The Board assumes the issuance of the resolutions and directives concerning the products and inquiries referred to it, after studying their implications and seeking the appropriate solutions. Moreover, through its special controlling body, the Board also follows up the extent of Al Rajhi Capital Shariah compliance with set controls and criteria issued by the board.

Members of the Shariah Board:
The Shariah Board is composed of the following members highly qualified in the Islamic sciences:

1- Sh. Dr. Saleh b. Mansoor al-Jarbou (President)
-President of Shariah Board – AlRajhi Cooperative Insurance Company.

Lawyer and Certified Arbiter – GCC Arbitration Board, Bahrain.
2- Sh. Dr. Sulaiman b. Abdullah al-Luhaidan (Member)

President of the Shariah Health Board.

Member, Shariah Board – Chinese Investment Fund, AlRajhi Real Estate Co.

Currently holds the position of Chief Justice (a) in the General Court of Riyadh.
3- Sh. Dr. Sa’ad b. Turki al-Khathlan (Member)

Vice President – Saudi Islamic Legal Association, Chief Editor of the Saudi
Islamic Legal Association Journal.

Member – International Economic and Finance Association.

Currently holds the position of Associate Professor, Imam Muhammad b. Saud
Islamic University, Riyadh.

Functions of the Shariah Board :
The Shariah Board assumes many functions, mainly the following:

  1. Islamic legal analysis of the products and inquiries referred to it and issuance of necessary decisions and directives; coordinated through the Shariah Board Secretariat.
  2. Verification and assurance that the Company's products comply with the Islamic legal criteria; coordinated through the Shariah Board Secretariat.
  3. Develop products and pursue Shariah-compliant solutions; coordinated through the Support and Development Department.
  4. Raise awareness of Islamic Economics and Finance, both inside and outside the company, through the above-mentioned bodies.
